Career Day 2017

Oakland High School and the Wildcats Alumni Association (WAA) are again co-sponsoring a Career Day to encourage students to focus on their future and to explore vocations and professions. We hope you will consider joining us the morning of Tuesday, February 7, 2017, to share with students the experiences that led you to your profession/vocation, and the pros and cons of your occupation. 9th grade students are organized into "families" and 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students are in career-oriented pathways. The career oriented programs include the Environmental Science Academy (ESA), Visual Arts Magnet Program (VAAMP), Public Health Academy (PHA), the Kephera Academy, and Social Justice and Reform. Students have expressed how much they enjoy and appreciate hearing about the careers, professions and occupations presented to them.

We will meet in the school theater at 9:00 AM on February 7 for welcome and orientation. A continental breakfast will be provided before you go the classrooms to meet with the students.

As the school has changed to a block schedule this year, Career Day presentations will take place during Period 4B (9:52 AM – 11:24 AM)

Colleagues who would like to help with your presentation are welcome.

Please complete the online or paper form and submit it to us no later than February 1, 2017. If you have questions please contact Stephen Johnson at 510-530-0784 or or Amy Dellefield at 510-295-5048 or

We look forward to seeing you on Career Day and thank you for taking time from your schedule to help Oakland High students become more knowledgeable about the varieties of careers and occupations available to them.
